Not really, think about it, he has his spinny move to power up, (which is what you were talking about) but when he does that he is a hedgehog, and his spikes wouldf be out moving at incredible speed, i dunno about u but I have no wanty to touch that! his kicks and punches would also be super fast, and he could probably pull of that dash move of falcos, then there is his somersault, which would take your legs out. I really think you underestimate him. oh,, and he has something mario doesn't, when he jupms, his spikes are once again out, doing more damage. don't count out sonic yet!

I find it interesting that you acknowledge his spines, since the videogames don't seem to. He does not attack with his spines, or use them in anyway. And whats this about a somersault?
Re: Favorite Videogame character « Reply #32 on Dec 8, 2005, 11:38pm »
meh they do sorta, why do you think it does damage to the guy with jumping on them, Yeah sonic, can somersault, in Sonic Advanced he can at least, Tails does a tail whip, Amy smacks things with the hammer, and Knuckles punches stuff.

Yes, his spines damage someone when they jump on them, that makes perfect sense. Thats why Mario does no damage to enemies when he jumps on them, he simply has no spines.
It also explains how Sonics padded shoes do damage to enemies while the rest of his body does not, and is actually vulnerable to enemy attacks. Yup, thats spines working.
And honestly, have you seen hedgehog spines??? They're pretty wussy, honestly. Sure, porcupines have barbed tips that keep forcing themselves farther into the opponent, but a hedgehog's just kind of poke you for a second or two. You could step on the things with a pair of shoes on, and you wouldn't feel a friggen thing. The Hedgehog, on the other hand, would be dead. You hear me? Dead, and rather flat and gooey.Try that with a porcupine, and they would pwn you. While we're at it, hedgehogs are renowned for their amazing speed, right? Yes, their speed is surpassed only by that of my grandmother when she is ill. Like a lightning bolt.

Twix, he isn't like a normal hedgehog. Mario has super human jumping abilities, Donkey Kong rides Rhinoceroseseses, and I don't know many crazy bandicoots that fight evil, so you can't compare them to what a real plummer, gorilla, or bandicoot would be like. Secondly, Mario does damage when he jumps on things like goombas or koopas, while, thanks to his spines, Sonic destroys robots and other metallic things. Lastly, Sonic doesn't use his padded shoes to do damage. He does damage when he jumps or does his fast roll, both of which he is curled up for.
Imagine Mario at the end of Sonic 2 and you know what I'm talking about.

To be honest, I put the regular hedgehog crap in there for fun, I know none of it really matters. All I know is that Sonic is a dying franchise, which will soon join pacman in retro obscurity unless sega decides to stop being morons. Shadow looks fairly decent, maybe it's a start. I doubt it though.
You still have to give Mario more credit than he's getting right now, since he has lots of other ways of inflicting damage, plus more acrobatics than straight up vertical jumping. As far as him vs. Sonic, I look to actual sales and mechanic game quality on that front,on which we see Mario flooring Sonic.

As for Mario, he has about as many moves as a dictionary has words in his last two great adventures, so I wouldn't be pulliing one over on him. (Not to mention that he can jump about five times his own height.)
As far as Sonic, how's his agility crazy? Megaman has his Dashing, Wall-Kicking madness, as well as a ton of other stuff in the X games. For Mario, he has jumping, backflipping, diving, rolling, wallkicking, longjumping, and spinjumping.
What agility moves does Sonic have? (Notice speed is not the same thing.) Keep in mind that when sonic want't to move really fast, he needs to wait a few moments before he's fully charged, leaving him vulnerable and easily avoided.
*slaps forehead* How little you know... The classic Sonic is more agile than you can imagine. Sonic CD and the Sonic movie denostrate this. Let me just say that every time I envision sonic; EVERY SINGLE TIME; he is super fast, bouncing off walls, jumping down cliffs and the n running, spinning, pulling off skilled aerial maneuvers and dodges, ricochets... all this. Also, is it Sonic's fault Nintendo loves to dote more and more things on their industry staple; their bread and butter? Sonic doesn't need special upgrades to win...

First of all. Sonic is a Sega Character. Not Nintendo. C'mon, you call yourself a fan and you don't know that?!?!
In the movies, sonic may be awesome. You may Idolize him in your sleep. But in the Games, the hedgehog is clunky and doesn't live up to his own reputation. In the movies, Sonic is god, in the videogames, he's outdated and clumsy. Plus: You know that Shadow could beat him any day if he really had to. Knuckles too. Tales can come along if he acts mature
As far as who'd be the best, I've also gotta throw Albert Wesker out there, since the guy's amazing, if not a little evil.
And who would win in a battle of the god characters: Neo, Superman, or Goku???
Re: Favorite Videogame character « Reply #38 on Dec 12, 2005, 8:19pm »
he is referring to the fact that all the sonic games now are coming out on the nintendo systems, since sega no longer has it's own systems, mario gets support from a larger company that will always put his games on their system Shadow vs. Sonic is one of those matchups where Shadow is faster and more powerful but Sonic has all the intangibles so you can't count him out, they do fight in Adventure Battle 2, and you kind of decide who wins

On a separate note, if every videogame character showed up in a super smash brothers game, who would win?

A bit of a change here, plus I think Mario would floor most people on sales, as quantity is job 1 Finally, who is Albert Wesker?

Alright, forget Shadow. Apparently the new game is horrendously bad. Made GI's list of the worst games of the year.
Albert Wesker is the mastermind behind Umbrella and one of the continuing antagonists in Resident Evil. In the first game, he tried to cheat death by injecting himself with as variation of the T-Virus(Turns people into zombies) and lost his humanity. In exchange, he developed superhuman speed and strength. Given that this game series tries to be moderately realistic, the fact that he can shatter a man's head with a kick in a game is pretty intimidating. In Resi4(Game of the year from Spike, Game Informer, and others) where most of the players can kick a stunned opponent, he can "Thrust Punch" them, killing them instantly and sending their body a good several yards away without breaking a sweat. Evil, but powerful to no ends.
And sonic games are not, for the most part, exclusive to GC. I don't really want to destroy your love of sonic, so I'm just gonna say sure, he could do fine. Give any character two consecutive shots on him and he'd be dead anyway, but he certainly will go down in history as one of the All stars of gaming. Personally, I think Wesker and Megaman could take him out, but thats just me.

Hey all. I just want to start this again, with a different spin, or maybe the original spin. WHich character is your favorite(s)? I like to know this sort of thing, it shows who you are. But I don't really want to find out who would win in a fight, because sometimes the coolest characters don't fight, or stuff like that.

Unfortunately, yes. They should fight... Everyone knows that Kirby would dominate all of you. He could suck you up. THEN he would just get a sword ans spit you out in it? Everyone, even I know that Kirby can do anything...
